What a private flight costs

Private jet prices: the cost per hour by class, and one-way prices by route

Indicative figures for the whole aircraft, never per seat — the numbers we quote from before a real trip is priced.

Private jet charter is priced per aircraft and per flight hour, never per seat. Six people flying London to Nice pay what two people pay, because you are buying the aeroplane and the crew’s day rather than a row of seats.

The tables below are the figures we quote from: an hourly rate for every aircraft class we arrange, and a one-way price for every corridor we publish.

Every figure on this page is indicative and for the whole aircraft. It is a starting point for a straightforward trip, not a quote: the exact price is always calculated for a real aircraft on real dates.

Private jet cost per hour, by class

Each class is a range of aircraft, and each aircraft carries its own band inside it. The same airframe moves by about 25 to 40 per cent with route, season, positioning and dates, which is why the figure here is where a class starts rather than what a trip costs.

Aircraft classPer flight hour
TurbopropSeats 6–9 · 2,600–3,350 kmfrom €2,200
Very light jetSeats 4–5 · 1,900–2,200 kmfrom €2,800
Light jetSeats 6–8 · 2,400–3,000 kmfrom €3,300
Super-light jetSeats 7–8 · 3,400–3,800 kmfrom €3,500
Midsize jetSeats 7–9 · 4,250–5,200 kmfrom €4,000
Super-midsize jetSeats 8–10 · 5,300–7,400 kmfrom €5,800
Heavy jetSeats 10–14 · 5,200–7,400 kmfrom €7,500
Ultra-long-rangeSeats 13–19 · 11,000–14,300 kmfrom €11,000
VIP airlinerSeats 19–50 · 8,500–11,500 kmfrom €18,000

These are estimated from-prices per flight hour, to give you a sense of cost. Your exact quote depends on the aircraft, route and dates — just ask.

Private jet charter prices by route

One-way prices for the whole aircraft, grouped by departure city and cheapest first. Each corridor has its own page with the airports at both ends, the aircraft that suit the leg and how the season moves the price.

Behind the figures

What moves the price

Multiply an hourly rate by the flight time and you will get a number that is too low, often badly so. What you are chartering is the aircraft’s day, not your ninety minutes of it. Four things account for most of the difference.

Positioning

The aircraft has to reach you. If the nearest suitable jet is sitting in Munich and you are leaving from Nice, someone pays for that ferry flight, and that someone is you. It is the most common single reason two quotes for an identical route arrive thousands apart: one broker found an aircraft already on the field, the other did not.

The return leg

A one-way trip often costs more than people expect, because the aircraft must still get home or on to its next booking. On a return within a day or two that cost is already inside your quote; on a one-way it is added to it.

The same mechanism produces empty legs. Your repositioning flight is somebody else’s discount — and theirs can be yours, if your dates can fit around it.

Season and event weeks

Cannes in May, Monaco for the Grand Prix, the Alps at New Year, Geneva during Davos week. In those windows aircraft are scarce and the price says so. Moving a trip by four days can save more than any negotiation will.

Airports

Landing, handling and parking fees vary enormously between fields, and some airports constrain the day itself. Geneva closes departures at 21:26, Paris–Le Bourget refuses jets over 5.7 tonnes between 22:15 and 06:00, and Ibiza wants parking confirmed roughly fifteen days ahead in season. Each of those can turn a day trip into an overnight or a second crew, and both are charged.

The airport is also a lever. Luton instead of Farnborough, Cannes–Mandelieu instead of Nice: the aircraft that is already there is cheaper than the one that has to fly to you.

What a quote includes

A real quote contains the flight hours, the positioning legs the aircraft flies empty to reach you and to leave again, landing and handling at both ends, crew, catering at the level you asked for, and taxes. What sits outside it is worth reading twice: de-icing in winter, waiting time if you run late, extra hours if the trip changes in the air, and the handful of airports that bill after the fact. We mark those in the quote rather than leaving them for the invoice.
