Private jet charter from Paris to Barcelona
Paris → Barcelona
Paris
BarcelonaAn hour and forty-five minutes down the western edge of the Alps and across the Pyrenees. It is a business route first and a leisure one second, which is why its busiest week falls in March rather than in August.

Mobile World Congress, and the week to book early
For four days in early March, Barcelona hosts the largest event in the mobile industry and the city's business-aviation traffic multiplies. Slots at El Prat, hotel rooms and handling capacity all go at once, and aircraft are positioned in from across Europe to meet the demand — which is exactly what the price reflects. If your trip is that week, six to eight weeks' notice is not excessive. For the rest of the year, Barcelona is an easy city to fly into on a fortnight's notice.
Le Bourget's departure rule, again
Paris–Le Bourget forbids the departure of jets over 5.7 tonnes between 22:15 and 06:00. On a sector of this length that quietly removes the after-dinner departure: leaving at 22:00 gets you to Barcelona at 23:45, and anything later does not leave at all. Arrivals into Le Bourget are unrestricted, so the constraint is one-directional — the return from Barcelona can be as late as the Spanish end and your crew's duty day allow.
El Prat, Sabadell and the drive
Barcelona–El Prat is fifteen kilometres from the centre with a full business-aviation terminal, and it is where this traffic lands. Sabadell is closer to the northern and inland suburbs but its 1,050 m runway restricts it to very light types, which rules it out for most of the aircraft that fly this leg. Onward, the coast north to the Costa Brava is an hour by car, Andorra about three, and Ibiza fifty-five minutes by air — a combination that makes El Prat a natural first stop rather than a final destination.
Empty legs between Paris and Barcelona
They exist here, but most of the year they point the wrong way. Le Bourget is where the aircraft live and Barcelona is where they are wanted, so the sector that gets sold is the one going south and the sector that flies empty is the one coming home. A Paris-to-Barcelona empty leg is made by somebody else's departure from Barcelona: an aircraft is sent down to collect them, and the leg in front of that pick-up is the one on offer. It is real, and it is occasional. The first days of March turn that around. Aircraft are brought into Catalonia from across Europe for Mobile World Congress, and a large share of those inbound sectors carry nobody — so the one week southbound empty legs are plentiful is also the week every one of them is already being chased. Outside the congress, what catches one is a date with a day of give on either side of it. A fixed day at a fixed hour, and the honest answer is a normal quote.
June to September, Barcelona closes the mid-morning arrival
Barcelona publishes a summer restriction that removes exactly the departure a Paris business day wants. From June to September an aircraft of 15,000 kg maximum take-off weight or less may not land at El Prat between 07:00 and 11:30 — the airport publishes the window in UTC, which through the Spanish summer is 09:00 to 13:30 on the clock in Barcelona. Ambulance, emergency and State flights are exempt. Charter is not. The weight is the sting. A Phenom 300 is 8,150 kg and a Citation XLS+ 9,163 kg, so both of the light types usually quoted on this leg sit well inside the restriction, while a Challenger 350 at 18,416 kg sits outside it and may land when it likes. Set that against the block time and the shape of a summer day appears. Off blocks at Le Bourget before about 07:15 and you are on the ground before the window opens; after about 11:45 and you land once it has closed. What lies between is not a slot to be negotiated, it is a rule. Departures from Barcelona are untouched — only arrivals are restricted.
Which aircraft actually fly Paris to Barcelona
From about €8,650 one way. 830 km is comfortable for a Phenom 300 with four aboard; a Citation XLS+ or Challenger 350 carries a full cabin and luggage without thinking about it. Both countries are in Schengen and the EU customs union, so there is no passport control and nothing to declare — on this route the ground time is genuinely ten minutes at each end, which is most of the reason to fly privately over a distance the airlines serve well.
Typical aircraft
| Aircraft | Passengers | Range | Cruise speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embraer Phenom 300 | 8 | 3,650 km | ≈ 840 km/h |
| Cessna Citation XLS+ | 8 | 3,400 km | ≈ 815 km/h |
| Bombardier Challenger 350 | 9 | 5,900 km | ≈ 850 km/h |
Estimated one-way charter for the whole aircraft. The exact price depends on the aircraft and date, and is always quoted on request.
Frequently asked questions
- How long is a private flight from Paris to Barcelona?
- About 1 hour 45 minutes, Le Bourget to Barcelona–El Prat.
- When is Barcelona hardest to book?
- Mobile World Congress in early March, when the city's business-aviation traffic multiplies and aircraft are positioned in from across Europe. Six to eight weeks' notice is sensible for that week.
- How late can I leave Paris?
- Le Bourget forbids departures of jets over 5.7 tonnes from 22:15 to 06:00, so a 22:00 departure lands in Barcelona at about 23:45 — and later is not possible. Arrivals into Le Bourget are unrestricted.
- How much does a private jet from Paris to Barcelona cost?
- From around €8,650 one way, depending on the aircraft and the week. Every trip is quoted individually.
- Are there empty legs between Paris and Barcelona?
- Some, but the corridor mostly produces them in the other direction. Paris is a base and Barcelona is a destination, so the empty sector is usually the one flying home, and a southbound one is created by somebody's departure from Barcelona. The exception is the run-up to Mobile World Congress, when aircraft are positioned into Catalonia from across Europe.
- Can I land in Barcelona on a summer morning?
- Not in an aircraft of 15,000 kg or less. From June to September El Prat refuses arrivals by those types between 07:00 and 11:30 UTC, which is 09:00 to 13:30 in Barcelona. A Phenom 300 and a Citation XLS+ are both inside that limit; a Challenger 350 is not. Leave Le Bourget before about 07:15, or after about 11:45.
