Its airport has a dedicated business terminal and feeds Courchevel, Verbier, Megève and Gstaad within a short transfer.

When is the best time to fly to Geneva?
Geneva flies year-round, but the winter ski season from December to March is the sharpest peak — jets and airport slots are at a premium around New Year and the February half-terms. The city's finance and watch calendar, including Watches & Wonders in spring, drives its own waves of business demand.

Reaching the ski resorts
Geneva is the classic gateway to the Alps: Courchevel, Verbier, Megève, Chamonix and Gstaad are all within a one-to-two-hour drive, or a short helicopter transfer your advisor can arrange from the airport. For the deepest snow, a jet into Geneva plus a helicopter leg is the fastest way onto the slopes.
What to do in Geneva
Beyond business, Geneva rewards a stay with lakeside dining, the Jet d'Eau and the old town, discreet private-banking and watch houses, and easy access to the vineyards of the Lavaux. In summer the lake and the nearby mountains open up an entirely different, greener side of the city.
Terminal 3, and how long the arrival really takes
Geneva's business aviation works out of Terminal 3, building C3, at the south-west end of the field about two kilometres from the passenger terminal and with its own road entrance. The FBOs there include Jet Aviation, TAG Aviation, Signature and Dassault Aviation Business Services, and passport control and customs sit inside the building rather than in the main hall. One detail surprises people arriving from the EU. There is no passport check on a Schengen sector, but Switzerland is outside the EU customs union, so the customs channel still applies — to watches, jewellery and cash, and the thresholds are worth reading before you pack. From London it is a passport check as well. Off-peak the walk from the steps to a waiting car is five to ten minutes. On a January Saturday with the ramp full, the aircraft may be parked remotely and the honest figure is nearer twenty.
The weeks that are genuinely hard to buy
Within the winter peak, four blocks do the damage. Christmas to New Year. The February half-terms — the UK's and the French zone holidays, which rotate through the month, so the pressure lasts four weeks rather than one. The third week of January, when the World Economic Forum meets at Davos: for 2026 Geneva required business aviation to hold parking permission across 16 to 26 January, a window far wider than the event itself. And EBACE in May, held at Palexpo next to the airport, when parking is capped at two hours. Saturdays are the real constraint, because ski weeks turn over on Saturday and everyone wants the same six hours. Ask for a peak Saturday weeks ahead, not days. Move the same trip to a Thursday or a Sunday afternoon and both the slot and the price change. April to June and September to November are the quiet end of the year and quote accordingly.
Slots, the curfew, and why your aircraft leaves without you
Geneva is a Level 3 fully coordinated airport: every movement needs a slot, allocated through Slot Coordination Switzerland with lead times measured in days. The curfew is the part clients discover late. For slot purposes arrivals are closed from 00:00 to 06:04 and departures from 21:26 to 05:59, so a last run down the mountain and a 22:30 departure do not fit together. Delayed arrivals are tolerated to around half past midnight; planning to land at that hour is how a flight ends up diverting. Parking is the other lever. A layover beyond three hours needs the airport's approval, two hours during EBACE, and a parking permission during the WEF window. So on peak dates the aircraft sets you down and leaves empty — Lyon, Annecy, Chambéry, Basel and Milan all absorb Geneva overflow — and both empty legs are on your quote. It is the main reason a same-day return can price better than two one-ways in February. Flying on to Sion or Samedan instead depends on the aircraft: a PC-24 or PC-12 treats both as routine, while a Learjet 60XR is out of Samedan altogether and weight-limited at Sion. Samedan is Europe's highest airport at 5,600 ft, has no ILS, and in winter works from 08:00 until dusk.
Ground, skis and animals
The car meets you at the Terminal 3 door. A helicopter from the same apron reaches Courchevel altiport in roughly 30 to 35 minutes and Le Châble, ten minutes below Verbier by road or funicular, in about 35. Helicopters fly visually, so a low cloud base in the valleys puts you back in a car — we hold the car booking until the morning of the flight rather than cancel it. Skis and golf bags are a question of shape, not weight. A ski bag is around 1.8 m long and some light-jet holds simply will not take one; send us the luggage list and we match the aircraft to it rather than the other way round. Animals follow Swiss rules, which track the EU's: microchip implanted before or with the rabies vaccination, and at least 21 days since. From the EU a pet passport is enough; from a third country you need an official health certificate and declaration of ownership, and entry has to be through a border inspection post — Geneva, Zurich and Basel are the airports that have one, so flying an animal straight into a small alpine field is not an option. Dogs must be presented to a Swiss vet within ten days, and the animal goes through the goods-to-declare channel.
