The honest answer is: it depends — but the logic is simple once you see it. Private charter is priced per aircraft and per flight hour, not per seat. So the two biggest levers are which class of jet you need and how long it's in the air.
The hourly rate
As a rough guide, indicative rates run from around €2,200/hour for a turboprop, through €3,300–5,800 for light and super-midsize jets, up to €11,000+ for ultra-long-range aircraft and more for VIP airliners. These are starting points; the exact figure is always quoted per trip.
What else moves the price
Beyond the hourly rate, the total reflects positioning (flying the aircraft to you), landing and handling fees, overnight or waiting time for the crew, and peak-date demand. A one-way trip can cost more than you'd expect because the jet still has to get home.
How to fly private for less
Flexibility is the biggest discount. Empty legs — repositioning flights sold at 30–75% off — are the clearest example, and being open on dates or nearby airports widens your options. For frequent flyers, a jet card or block-hours arrangement can lock in rates.
